Bonaventure

In Bonaventure, the Musée acadien du Québec shows the cultural wealth of the region with its three exhibitions, its free concerts and its boutiques. You will learn more about the fascinating life of the Acadians of Quebec and can visit the art, handicraft and country products shops on the site. From the end of July to the end of August, outdoor concerts of artists from the region and the Maritime provinces are presented in the evening. The Théâtre de la Petite Marée also presents adaptations of children literature’s classics that will please the entire family.

This city also has a sandy beach concealing warm water as well as a river on which you can go kayaking or canoeing or in which you can fish for salmon. For cyclists who would like to discover the hinterland, the Route verte unrolls its paths, and for bird watchers, the coast, the barachois, the delta of the river and the wooded areas are some of the best nesting places that will please amateurs and professionals. Golfing, camping and tennis are a few other activities offered.

The main attraction of Bonaventure is probably the Bioparc de la Gaspésie where you will discover the natural heritage of the Gaspésie region during a visit of five ecosystems: the bay, the barachois, the river, the forest and the tundra. Along a 1-kilometre path, you can observe more than 30 indigenous animal species living in the wild and more than 70 plant species in their respective ecosystem.
