Primarily a place of history and ethnology telling the fascinating and touching life of Quebec Acadians, our museum has become a true public place where numerous cultural and educational activities help to the discovery and sharing of the rich Acadian heritage.
The exhibition “Une Acadie québécoise” presents in an original way the settlement of the Acadian line in Quebec and highlights its great contribution to Quebec’s society. Baie-des-Chaleurs represents a great example of this heritage and culture.
Located in an adjoining pavilion, the exhibition “Bonaventure en miniatures” celebrates the architectural and maritime richness of Bonaventure in the 1950s. This exhibition, realised by the passionate craftsman Marcel Arsenault, comprises dozens of buildings reproduced at a scale of 1:12.
A World of Diversity!
A must see! The temporary exhibitions are used to showcase the talent of local and regional artists and to welcome the productions of other institutions.
Hail to the Artists!
It is well known that Acadians know how to party. Chapeau à nos artistes (Hail to the artists) is a series of free shows presented on the museum’s terrace every Wednesday night of the summer. Discover artists from Gaspésie and elsewhere in Quebec and the Maritimes provinces inside a festive and lively atmosphere.
