Gaspésie Travel guide >> Haute-Gaspésie

Mountain and Wind Country

In the Haute-Gaspésie area, visitors can observe the highest peaks in Southern Quebec. These mountains were shaped by glaciers more than 100,000 years ago. The Haute-Gaspésie area will charm you by the beauty and diversity of its fauna and flora, especially in the réserve faunique des Chic-Chocs, in the parc national de la Gaspésie, but also at the summit of mounts Albert and Jacques-Cartier.

Museums and interpretation centres invite you to discover the welcoming and warm culture of the region. During your visit of Cap-Chat, you will surely be astonished by the windmill park in which there are 76 windmills as well as the world’s highest vertical windmill. Thrill seekers, for their part, will enjoy the Festival du Vol Libre, during which hang-gliders invade the sky. You will surely be charmed by the Haute-Gaspésie area.
